You can check the ACDsee forums out on their site if you want to see what concerns with the software is like.ĪCDsee is free to download for a trial. ACDsee seems a lot faster to use and does a lot more than Optics Pro. You would think since this is a big business. It's interesting how many people don't like Adobe products for raw. I shoot raw using Sony cameras and ACDsee does a great job to my non-pro eyes. I'm not in business which is a different set of requirements than personal use. I used Lightroom for a short time long ago then went with Elements and Premiere for years. see Partner plugin support - ACDsee isn't there)
ACDsee doesn't even appear on lists supported for Nik and AutoFX. One of the big downsides is I expect if/when you move to a new platform in the future ACDsee catalog conversion with keywords etc. There is a free pack from AutoFX of 10 samples that I downloaded. I liked the handling of SilverFX for black and white which was a free download. Nik is free to download and a lot of the functionality is covered better in ACDsee already. Once you learn the interface in the first option you understand just about any option. If you don't like using the menus you can often go to the area you want to adjust and drag the pointer down to reduce, up to increase what ever option you are in. Then often you get into shadow, midrange, and bright options. Typically for adjustments I can choose the area to work with through masking, or painting, or linear gradient (adjust what is highlighted above a movable line), or circular gradient (oblong shape moveable on screen similar to linear gradient), or inverse of the above options, or pixel targeting to go by color. I can go into a function and "do things" many ways. The thing I like most about ACDsee is the interface. My question is mainly this.how does it compare to Lightroom? Also, I'm using Olympus Review 3 software for RAW conversions so I'm not concerned with ACDsee or Lightrooms RAW converters. I know Robin Wong used ACDsee to tweak his shots, but does anyone else here use it? I just looked on their site and the new ACDSee Photo Studio Professional 2018 has some features that I really like.
